Blue!

Blue is a hot color right now, but what will happen in five years? Well...I believe that it is here to stay! Picture a robin’s egg, and all of the shades of blue surrounding that. Here are some of the concerns that I hear about blue…
•Is it a trend?
•Am I limiting myself with color?
•Is it cold/sterile?
If you are naturally drawn to blue, I say GO FOR IT! Don’t let negative concerns stifle your creativity! There are always ways to work around these decorating roadblocks. Let’s talk about trends…going trendy can end up taking a chunk out of your decorating budget. It works for some people, but if you grow tired of your décor quickly, then I would not recommend overdoing any trend! If you are concerned about making a commitment with blue, just use blue as an accent color. Blue is wonderful in a lamp, piece of pottery, table, candle, etc. This eliminates commitment phobia (at least with blue). If you grow tired of the blue accent, just move it to another room to give it a new life, or make a friend really happy by passing it along! Shades of blue can complement any color scheme and pairs great with red (believe it or not!). So if you would like to introduce blue to any other existing color in your room, just try something small – like a pillow that has your existing color scheme plus a touch of blue. Once you add a touch like this, then you can sprinkle blue around the room with accessories. If you warm up blue with the tones that you are naturally drawn to – such as red and gold…it will really warm up your room. It could be cold & sterile if you had an entire room decorated like a cold hospital room, but if you inject your own style it will be warm & inviting!
Still afraid of blue? I hope not!
Happy Decorating!
